From your first lesson to competitive chukkars, South Bay Polo Club offers a complete path into the game.
Whether you’re brand new to polo, a returning rider, or an experienced player, our programs are designed to meet you where you are—and move you forward. Beginners build confidence through lessons and academies, while developing and seasoned players step into real play alongside experienced players and club pros.
We’re also committed to growing the next generation of players, offering youth programs and interscholastic team opportunities that introduce the game in a supportive, structured environment.
South Bay Polo is located just 30 minutes south of San Jose in Gilroy CA. We offer a full range of polo opportunities from learning to play to working with our pros to improve your game. We host club chukkers, tournaments and player/family BBQs from the May - October on our beautiful polo field. Winter polo is played in the arena at Horse Park Polo Club or on the field if conditions allow.

South Bay Polo offers several programs for the beginner to advanced player, youth to adult. We also offer boarding and full horse care.
Learn to Play
South Bay Polo offers different options to learn the game. Take an Intro to Polo class and see if it is for you or enroll in our 6 or 8 week Polo Academy and you will be playing chukkers by the last class! We also offer an Advanced Polo Academy at South Bay!
Youth Programs
We offer youth polo programs from Leadline polo starting at 3 years old, to students ranging from 5-11 years old and a competitive Interscholastic program for middle and high school students. Our young players learn to play and improve their horsemanship skills.
Improve Your Game
South Bay Polo has programs for players looking to better their skills and game strategy. From video swing analysis, riding video analysis, Fundamental/Fast Fridays and coaching chukkars with our pros, we have you covered.
Coaching & Competitive Chukkars
At South Bay Polo, you can choose to play with one of our Pros to improve your game and strategy. We will be offering club tournaments throughout the 2026 season to hone you competitive play. Be sure to check our calendar for our 2026 Season Tournaments.
Chukkar Sign-up
As we get closer to the beginning of our season, we will begin our chukkar sign-up online. Members and players need to sign up for Thursday and weekend chukkars on-line through ChukkerBook. Be sure to check our calendar for the latest dates!
Our Pros
Meet our incredible Polo Pros. They are invested and dedicated to work with you to improve your riding, skills and game. We can't wait for the 2026 season to start! All of our pros offer group and private lessons, coaching, horse training and sales. We also have a Visiting Pro Program where we welcome pro's to come play with our members!

Led by renowned polo professional Corky Linfoot, this immersive two-day clinic is designed for players of all levels, focusing on horsemanship, game strategy, and skill development.

Throughout the season, there are competive club tournaments in addition to USPA sponsored tournaments such as our annual Garlic Cup and Wes Linfoot Memorial Tournament. We are excited to also be offering a 2 Goal League this season.

We offer many playing options
South Bay Polo opens May 2nd and works with Menlo Polo Club which opens May 23rd, 2026. From May – October, South Bay will be playing chukkers in Gilroy on Saturdays and at Menlo Polo club on Sundays. This is in addition to our regular Thursday evening club chukkers, Tiara Goal competition on Wednesdays and morning Fast Friday sessions. Starting in June, we will be hosting several USPA tournaments as well as weekly club chukkar options with our resident Pro’s for our members and local players.
In addition to offering polo at South Bay Polo and Menlo Polo Club, we also play arena polo at Horse Park Polo Club in Woodside, CA and winter polo at Eldorado Polo Club with our pros. There is a place for all levels of players at South Bay Polo Club.
