What is the Advanced Polo Academy?
The Advanced Polo Academy is the perfect next step for those who completed their first academy and are looking to continue to improve in a group setting. It is also a natural step for those who have started polo and wanting to improve and feel more comfortable before joining club or tournament chukkars.
The Advanced Academy will pick up where the first academy left off. Lessons will focus on Level 2 riding and horsemanship skills to increase your riding comfort and ability while playing. The instruction will also focus on advanced play strategy and hitting through drills and practice chukkars.
The Advanced Academy will meet at the same time each week at South Bay Polo. Sessions will last about an hour and a half. If you miss one, fear not, there are plenty of opportunities for make ups. After each session, club members will play chukkers. You are more than welcome to stick around and watch.
We will provide everything you need to get the right start in polo, i.e. professional instructors, well-schooled safe polo ponies and all the equipment. Participants will also receive their own foot mallet to practice. We just ask that you outfit yourself with white jeans or breeches, riding boots, gloves and helmet. Spaces are filling fast. Contact us at email@example.com or complete the form below for more information or to sign up.
Equipment needed: White jeans or breeches, riding boots and helmet. We will have mallets and all other necessary equipment. If you don’t want to commit to a polo helmet and boots yet, a NOCSAE approved riding helmet and paddock boots with half chaps will work just fine too.
I joined Francesca’s beginner polo academy with literally no prior riding experience. I was in a state of disbelief that I will be able to play polo and afford it financially; but it all came together as Francesca makes the academy very accessible. In a short period of 8 months, I found myself going to Indio to play a serious tournament. This whole experience was so fulfilling and fun – being able to gallop while controlling the ball with your mallot feels so good that it’s hard to describe in words.
I can’t think of anything better that I could have done with my time and money. Beyond just the sport, the overall polo community is so welcoming. We have made great friends, and we have lots of fun memories together. Polo is a lifestyle and Francsesca’s academy is a great way to enter it.
If you are a person who, like myself, likes to work hard and play hard, I can tell you one thing — there is no playing harder than playing polo.
