South Bay Polo is excited to announce our 2024 trip!!
We are planning our annual horse shopping trip to Argentina in early November 2024 to play with Naimará Polo in Cañuelas, Argentina with Guillermo Usandizaga. There are over 80 horses to choose from. Bring home your next polo partner!!
This year we the trip will include 4 daily chukkars, stick and ball each day, food, accommodations, transportation (except flights), lots of horses and more!
The trip includes amazing opportunities to learn and improve your game. The chukkars will be part of a 2-4 goal league. Players must be currently playing at our club chukkar level. The cost for the this option is $3,600.00 per person and is limited to 6 players. There is an option to play 8-12 goal level too. Talk to Fran if you want to play in an upper level.
If you would like to sign up or would like more information about the trip, contact Fran. A $1,500 deposit is required to reserve your space. Your deposit is non refundable unless we are able to fill your space once you have committed to the trip, but with adequate notice you can apply it to a future trip.
What to Expect
This is an amazing opportunity to play in the mecca of polo. Guillermo Usandizaga has over 80 horses. Each day you stick and ball, trying several horses to find the perfect one’s that suite your riding and playing style. In the afternoons, each group will play in scheduled chukkars based on playing level.
You will play with the South Bay group as well as local players. There is no better way to improve your hitting and game skills, building on what you have learned each day. Most of the horses are also for sale if you find one or two that you would like to purchase. We have several ponies at South Bay that were purchased from Guillermo Usandizaga who have become some of the best ponies at the Club.
Accommodations
Players will stay in a house in Cañuelas, a town in Buenos Aires Provence, just minutes from the polo fields. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths plus an additional casita on the property with an additional 2 bedrooms, bathroom and living area. The house is fully equipped with all amenities, including a washer/dryer, pool, big screen TV and Wifi.
All meals are provided and special dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Wake up to breakfast of fresh fruits, pastries and hot breakfast items. After your stick and ball morning session, you will return to the estancia for lunch and a siesta if desired. Then the group will head out for chukkars and when you return, a delicious dinner will be waiting with a selection of Argenitine wines.
Extra Activities
Did we mention the shopping? Argentina is the place to purchase any tack or personal polo equipment. A saddle maker will visit the house with a variety of bridles, saddles, knee pads and more that can be customized or personalized if desired.
A visit to Pilar, Hurlingham or Buenos Aires can also be planned. Last year, our group went to the Hurlingham Final, one of the tournaments of the Triple Crown of Polo, which was followed by dinner in downtown Buenos Aires.
